EnduraFlood FAQs: Waterproof Drywall Replacement System

EnduraFlood is a waterproof drywall replacement system designed for floodprone interiors. It replaces the flood‑exposed portion of gypsum drywall with non‑gypsum wallboard panels that can be removed for drying and reinstalled after flooding— reducing demolition, downtime, and repair cost.

Understanding EnduraFlood

What is EnduraFlood?

EnduraFlood is a waterproof drywall replacement system designed for floodprone interiors. It replaces the flood‑exposed portion of gypsum drywall with non‑gypsum wallboard panels that can be removed for drying and reinstalled after flooding— reducing demolition, downtime, and repair cost.

How is EnduraFlood different from standard drywall?

The fundamental difference is how the materials react to water.

Traditional Drywall: It is porous. When it gets wet, it experiences structural breakdown, promotes mold growth, and requires mandatory removal and replacement after flooding.

EnduraFlood Panels: They are waterproof and non-absorbent. Because they are removable and reusable, walls can be restored after a flood event instead of being demolished and completely rebuilt.

How does EnduraFlood compare to "flood-resistant"
or "green board" drywall?

"Flood-resistant" or "green board" drywall is still gypsum-based. While it may have moisture-resistant face paper, the core can still degrade after prolonged water exposure.

EnduraFlood isn’t gypsum drywall; it’s a non‑gypsum drywall alternative engineered to stay intact during flood exposure and to be reused after drying.

Performance During & After a Flood

Are EnduraFlood panels completely waterproof?

Yes. EnduraFlood panels are designed to withstand direct water exposure—including complete submersion—without absorbing moisture or deteriorating.

Can EnduraFlood really be reused after a flood?

Yes. Reusability is the defining feature of the EnduraFlood system. Following a flood event, the process typically involves:

Removing the panels to access the wall cavity.

Allowing the wall cavities and studs to be properly dried, cleaned, and inspected.

Reinstalling the existing panels once the structure is dry.

This process significantly shortens recovery time compared to tearing out and replacing soggy drywall.

Does EnduraFlood help prevent mold?

EnduraFlood panels do not absorb water, which greatly reduces the conditions that allow mold to grow on the wall surfaces themselves.

Note: While the panels resist mold, proper drying of the wall cavities behind the panels and adherence to local remediation guidelines is absolutely essential after any flooding event to prevent mold growth on wood studs or insulation.

How long does EnduraFlood last?

EnduraFlood is designed for long-term durability. Because the panels do not degrade from water exposure like drywall, their usable lifespan in flood-prone environments can far exceed traditional wall materials.

Installation & Design

Can EnduraFlood be installed in finished living spaces?

Yes. EnduraFlood is designed to function as a finished interior wall system, not just a utility solution for unfinished spaces. The panels are designed to achieve a clean, residential appearance suitable for basements, ground-floor living areas, and hallways.

Can EnduraFlood be painted?

Yes. EnduraFlood panels can be painted with standard interior paints to match your surrounding decor, allowing them to integrate seamlessly into finished interiors. You can view our design gallery to see how it looks painted.

Is EnduraFlood suitable for DIY installation?

Yes. EnduraFlood is designed to be DIY-friendly for homeowners with basic construction skills. We provide clear installation guidance, and many customers successfully install the system themselves. However, professional installation is always an option for those who prefer it.

Where is EnduraFlood typically installed?

EnduraFlood is intended for interior wall applications where flood resilience is a priority. It is most commonly used in:

Basements and cellar levels

Ground-floor living spaces in flood zones

Coastal homes prone to storm surge

Utility rooms and mechanical spaces

How It Works

How does EnduraFlood work during a flood?

EnduraFlood works by not absorbing water the way drywall does. When floodwater enters a space, the wall panels themselves aren’t damaged. After the water recedes, the panels can be removed so the wall cavity behind them can dry, then put back in place instead of being thrown away.

What happens to EnduraFlood after a flood?

After a flood, EnduraFlood panels can be:

Removed from the wall

Allowed to dry

Reinstalled once the space is clean and dry

This makes recovery much faster and far less destructive than cutting out and replacing drywall.

Does EnduraFlood protect what’s behind the wall?

EnduraFlood helps by allowing access to the wall cavity after flooding. Being able to open the wall makes it much easier to dry framing, insulation, and wiring — which is one of the biggest challenges after water damage.
